Legendary Mobb Deep Rapper Prodigy passes at 42

 Prodigy of Mobb Deep has passed away in Las Vegas NV at 42 years old.

The rapper’s publicist made a statement Tuesday June 20th, 2017 that Prodigy was hospitalized a few days ago “for complications caused by a  sickle cell anemia crisis.” Prodigy has battled sickle cell since birth and was in Las Vegas for a performance.

Albert Johnson better known by his stage name Prodigy, born in Hempstead New York raised in Queens, New York.

Prodigy propelled into awareness in the 90’s and became a legend and his legacy will live on through his music.

The duo’s classic hits include “Shook Ones (part 2)”, Quiet Storm, and “Hey Luv (Anthing).”

Prodigy released a cookbook of prison recipes last year, based on his time in jail. The book, “commissary kitchen: my infamous prison cookbook,” was released on infamous, Prodigy’s own imprint at Brooklyn-based Akashic books.

Prodigy performed last in Vegas over the weekend performing with the Art of Rap tour… with Legends Ghostface Killah, Onyx, KRS-One, Ice-T. and Mobb Deep performed Saturday night.
